Trouver le Reactif Limitant

5 exercices avec tableaux d'avancement

Methode pour trouver le reactif limitant

  1. 1. Ecrire l'equation equilibree et noter les quantites initiales de chaque reactif.
  2. 2. Pour chaque reactif, calculer l'avancement maximal : x_max = n(reactif) / coefficient.
  3. 3. Le reactif limitant est celui qui donne le plus petit x_max.
  4. 4. L'avancement maximal de la reaction est ce plus petit x_max.
  5. 5. Calculer les quantites finales : n_final = n_initial ± coefficient × x_max.

1Combustion du methane

CH₄ + 2 O₂ → CO₂ + 2 H₂O

Donnees : n(CH₄) = 0,5 mol ; n(O₂) = 0,8 mol

Calcul de x_max : Pour CH₄ : x_max = 0,5/1 = 0,5 mol. Pour O₂ : x_max = 0,8/2 = 0,4 mol.

Reactif limitant : O₂ (car 0,4 < 0,5)

Avancement maximal : x_max = 0,4 mol

Quantites finales : n(CH₄) restant = 0,5 - 0,4 = 0,1 mol. n(CO₂) = 0,4 mol. n(H₂O) = 0,8 mol.

2Reaction zinc + acide chlorhydrique

Zn + 2 HCl → ZnCl₂ + H₂

Donnees : n(Zn) = 0,3 mol ; n(HCl) = 0,4 mol

Calcul de x_max : Pour Zn : x_max = 0,3/1 = 0,3 mol. Pour HCl : x_max = 0,4/2 = 0,2 mol.

Reactif limitant : HCl (car 0,2 < 0,3)

Avancement maximal : x_max = 0,2 mol

Quantites finales : n(Zn) restant = 0,3 - 0,2 = 0,1 mol. n(ZnCl₂) = 0,2 mol. n(H₂) = 0,2 mol.

3Synthese de l'ammoniac

N₂ + 3 H₂ → 2 NH₃

Donnees : n(N₂) = 2 mol ; n(H₂) = 3 mol

Calcul de x_max : Pour N₂ : x_max = 2/1 = 2 mol. Pour H₂ : x_max = 3/3 = 1 mol.

Reactif limitant : H₂ (car 1 < 2)

Avancement maximal : x_max = 1 mol

Quantites finales : n(N₂) restant = 2 - 1 = 1 mol. n(NH₃) = 2 × 1 = 2 mol.

4Precipitation AgCl

Ag⁺ + Cl⁻ → AgCl

Donnees : n(Ag⁺) = 0,01 mol ; n(Cl⁻) = 0,015 mol

Calcul de x_max : Pour Ag⁺ : x_max = 0,01/1 = 0,01 mol. Pour Cl⁻ : x_max = 0,015/1 = 0,015 mol.

Reactif limitant : Ag⁺ (car 0,01 < 0,015)

Avancement maximal : x_max = 0,01 mol

Quantites finales : n(Cl⁻) restant = 0,015 - 0,01 = 0,005 mol. n(AgCl) = 0,01 mol.

5Combustion du propane

C₃H₈ + 5 O₂ → 3 CO₂ + 4 H₂O

Donnees : n(C₃H₈) = 0,2 mol ; n(O₂) = 1,5 mol

Calcul de x_max : Pour C₃H₈ : x_max = 0,2/1 = 0,2 mol. Pour O₂ : x_max = 1,5/5 = 0,3 mol.

Reactif limitant : C₃H₈ (car 0,2 < 0,3)

Avancement maximal : x_max = 0,2 mol

Quantites finales : n(O₂) restant = 1,5 - 5×0,2 = 0,5 mol. n(CO₂) = 0,6 mol. n(H₂O) = 0,8 mol.

Points cles

  • Le reactif limitant est celui dont la quantite initiale divisee par son coefficient est la plus petite.
  • Le reactif limitant est totalement consomme a la fin de la reaction (n_final = 0).
  • Le ou les autres reactifs sont en exces : il en reste a la fin.
  • Les quantites de produits formes sont calculees avec x_max du reactif limitant.
